Five nonprofit centers have been selected by the Partners of the Denver Shared Space Project to receive consulting support in 2012.?
?When nonprofit groups band together to share office space, they can realize many benefits from improved access and budget savings, to greater community impact,? said Dace West, director of the Denver Office of Strategic Partnerships. ?We?re proud to partner with a number of existing and emerging centers, to help elevate them into becoming stronger and more sustainable organizations.?
The centers selected to receive consulting support are the Colorado Latino Leadership Advocacy Research Organization, the Denver Domestic Violence Center, the Innovative Alliance, Kim Robards Dance and the Promise Center.
The Denver Shared Space Project is a public-private partnership that promotes the successful operation of multi-tenant nonprofit centers in Denver. Started by the Denver Office of Strategic Partnerships, Piton Foundation and Urban Land Conservancy in 2009, the project serves as a local resource to assist the development of shared office space for organizations within the social sector.
The nonprofits will receive technical assistance in the areas of real estate, financial modeling, nonprofit collaboration, shared services coordination and community engagement. A team of consultants, led by Lara Jakubowski of LWJ Consulting, will develop tailored plans to assist each center in enhancing its overall function. Approximately 450 hours of consultancy hours will be provided among the centers.
The nonprofits were selected from a pool of 13 applicants.
The Denver Shared Space Project also provides a learning community, in which nonprofit multi-tenant centers can share best practices, network and learn from one another. For more information about the project, including directories of available shared office space locations, visit this link.
