Apple may plan Siri for iPad, iPod Touch

A reference to Apple's Siri voice-activated assistant in the latest beta version of its mobile source code has led to speculation that it may be added to the iPad and iPod Touch. It is now only available on the iPhone 4S.

The 9to5Mac blog reports that a beta release of the next generation of Apple's mobile operating system source code contains references to Siri.

This is seen as an indication that Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) either plans to include Siri on the next version of its iOS mobile operating system or plans to roll it out to everyone. Apple has retail stores in Dallas, Fort Worth, Southlake, Plano and Frisco.

Siri has been a major selling point for the latest version of the iPhone and a report last week also said it causes the new devices to use far more data than predecessors.
